Fun with the Grandparents

Lillian had a fun-filled weekend with ALL her grandparents. The weekend started with a trip with Gram to the park to feed the ducks. The ducks couldn't run away fast enough. Lilly was chasing them everywhere. She also enjoyed some bread herself...well until she spit it out. :) It was mommy and daddy's flour-less bread. I don't think the ducks even liked it. ha!

Come here ducky ducky...I get you

Yum bread, don't mind if I have some too.

Sweet moments

Today we had a family gathering with all four grandparents. Robert made a wonderful feast and Lilly enjoyed all the attention she could handle. I think this little girl is loved.

It's a little blurry because my flash was dying but Lilly can throw the ball one-handed.

Triumph Over Shoes

For the past few months Lilly has been attached to two pairs of shoes.  These are the only shoes she would wear whether they went with her outfit or not.

So when Easter was getting close Robert and I decided to take Lilly to the store to get her some Easter shoes. The moment we tried to put a sandle on her she screamed so loud that everyone turned their head to look probably thinking "Did that baby just get pinched? Did she fall?" So we lost the battle that day and decided that she would wear her pink chucks with her Easter dress. So a few weekends ago I set out on a journey with Ann to visit a local shoe store in Gatesville and it was the same story but we now have proof of what she did. So to all I told the story to, I wasn't exaggerating when I said my child dislikes shoe shopping. It's almost comical.

Well this weekend Ann and I were determined to get her some new shoes. This time it wasn't a matter of them matching her outfit but about them fitting her feat. The child's feet are growing and she needed new shoes. So we set out on our journey again to StrideRite and faced the fear that Lilly would kick and scream the moment we showed her the shoe. Well, our fears were met and she did just what we thought. She screamed and cried and held on to me so tight. It was so dramatic. Once she calmed down she realized that the shoes were not going to hurt her. We then took her to the playground at the mall to get her mind off what had just happened. She didn't play much, probably because she was traumatized but our mission was accomplished. So thank you Ann for the new shoes and helping me with this task.

Later on that day Ann and Jennifer took Lilly shopping again but this time it was to get some new pink chucks that were larger. All I can say is the girl knows what she wants. :)

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we thank our moms for being the woman who was always there for us, who put our needs before hers, who comforts us when we are sick or hurt and loves us unconditionally no matter how old we get. God blesses us with these women in our lives to be that nuturer, the person we always go to when we need support and love. So on Mother's Day and everyday I am thankful for the woman who taught me how to be a mother and the woman to taught my husband how to be a caring and nurturing father. No one person can take the place of your mother or guide you and care for you the way your mother does. So as I became a mother myself, I looked to my mom for guidance. I knew she was a pro raising three girls. Without a doubt I know my mom loves me and my sisters unconditionally and without hesitation she would be there for us when we need her the most. It is amazing the power of a mother's love and as I look at my daughter I feel the strength of that love and I thank God for everyday I have with her. Being a mom is the best thing that I have experienced besides marrying the love of my life. So as this Mother's Day came to an end this year, I need to remind myself that I should always celebrate my mom. I know that I still have so much to learn and I can't think of a better person to teach me.

I love you Mommy! I will always be your "Baby."

Off To Gram and Papa's House We Go...

Last weekend we took a trip down to Gatesville to visit Lilly's Gram and Papa. Despite being a little under the weather this little girl had a blast.

We were very happy in the car, well as long as we were entertained a little and fed, of course. T only had to reach back in the backseat to pick up her book or ball a few times. :)

On Saturday Lilly was ready to play outside and eager to be Papa's little helper. She enjoyed seeing the fish, running around in the yard and helping Papa with some yard work.

Helping Papa add water to the pond

We are working on our manners. It's not ok to kick puppies!

Now that is better...very sweet.

Lilly has been a little picky when it comes to shoes...ok that is really an understatement. She will only wear two pairs of shoes and anything else you try to introduce is rejected. Well Ann and I were BRAVE and attempted to take her shoe shopping. Lilly 1 -- Mommy and Gram 0!

Later that day Papa and Gram took Lilly to a splash park. She had a wonderful time! When they returned home the yard work continued. Lilly liked being Papa's little helper picking up rocks. Even at home she loves to clean up for me. She throws her food in the trash when she is done and always makes sure all the drawers are closed in the house. Love this girl! I foresee that she might enjoy chores...umm wishful thinking maybe, but a girl can only hope.

Saturday night was rough, we didn't get much sleep. She was so tired and we missed church. I love my little sleeping beauty.

Once she was up we were out in the yard again for some fun.

Lilly and Gram!

It was almost time to go but Lilly managed to get one more story from Papa and a big hug from her T.
It was a great weekend. We love our precious family time!
