Loving Water Again

Bath time at the Gurley house has been a two person job for the past few months. She used to love bathing and running her hand under the faucet but not anymore. It seemed like we tried everything to get her to enjoy the bath again including bubbles, tons of toys, splashing, us bathing with her, you name it. Well I had one more idea so my mom and I went to the store and bought Lilly a water table for the backyard. She was a little hesitant at first but with help from her T, she started to come around. We splashed, dropped balls down the center, and even drank the water (hey at this point, I don't care). The funny part was as the ground was getting wet from all the splashing Lilly would walk around the table to find some dry spots to stand. She eventually stood in the water but that was because there were no dry spots to be found. After all the play time was over we transitioned her to the bath and although she wouldn't sit in the bath it was such a BIG improvement. She wasn't screaming and clawing at me to get out like she normally does. I think the water table made a big difference and showed Lilly that water is fun again. Here are some pictures of Lilly and her T, daddy, Pawpaw and Memaw playing with the water table.

Baxter even enjoyed the water table.

She drank a LOT of the water. :)

T was splashing Lilly with water and she loved it. I love her expression!

PawPaw put the table together for Lilly (thank you daddy).

Life as a Toddler

Being a toddler is exciting, fun, sometimes challenging and moments are well...rough especially when it is time to eat what mommy and daddy want her to eat. Right now this girl lives off of eggs, crackers and veggie/fruit pureed pouches. I'm told this is a "phase" and I'm really hoping so because meal time can be a struggle. Oh and we also don't like our highchair anymore, it's dinner on the patio for this little one.

We LOVE our Tonia! We enjoyed a nice walk, some burnt pizza (courtesy of Mrs. Tonia) and a some much needed story time.

Have I mentioned that Lilly LOVES books. Fine example of her reading to Clover. As you can see Clover is so interested. I know she was thinking "kid leave me alone, I just want to lay here in peace."

Looking at the pictures below you wouldn't guess that Lilly has any books to choose from, I mean her selection is so limited. :) She asked me to get every book down from the shelf in her closet. Well that or she was crying and yelling "Boooook" until I got them all down. I have to admit though and I'm sure all parents say this but she is a smart cookie. She identifies her colors, animals and some shapes. The newest animal she has learned is an Elephant or as Lilly says it, "Elllit."

Lilly is overflowing with personality. She loves being goofy, giggling and playing outside. I am impressed everyday by the things she does. Recently she really surprised me. She started pointing at things and associating them with me or Robert. So in the case below, she pointed at my purse and said "mommy" (yes we have started to say mommy instead of momma and it just warms my heart every time I hear it). I was shocked that she made that association that the purse was mine.
Then she pointed to the vacuum and said "mommy" then points to the office chair and said "dada." I think Lily has it right, mommy cleans and daddy is on the computer.  Ha, I just like to give Robert a hard time.

Lilly also loves putting on bracelets and carrying my purse around the house. I think she is missing one key item of clothing though. Other than that this girl is ready to go!

Then there are the days when mommy is not prepared. I get to school and I'm looking around and for some reason I couldn't find my sweet little girl in the pink outfit I remember putting her in that morning. Well that is because she had a little accident and mommy didn't have spare clothes at school. Oops, so she comes home in a glow in the dark skeleton shirt. :) Gotta love it! I laughed so hard.

Fun on the Farm

Yesterday was a fun day for Lilly because she got to spend most of the day outside. We enjoyed the day at a friends farm in Greenville. If we allowed her to be outside 24/7 she would. Robert and I took turns with her as she was all over the place and frankly wearing us out. I think the only time she stopped moving was when I told her that it was time to have some milk.

Lilly loves her daddy so much. She gave him a big ole open mouth kiss and leaned in for some hugs and a game of "squishy face."

Don't know how you could miss this chair and we took advantage of it for a great photo. She looks so tiny.

Lilly explored every inch of the property. She got to see some "Moos" and "Puppies" and "Bubbles." Robert and I took turns with her as she was all over the place and frankly wearing us out. I think the only time she stopped moving was when I told her that it was time to have some milk.

Oh wait, never mind she was still on the go after I handed her the milk.

After the bubbles were "All Done" we could tell that she was exhausted and it was time to head back home. So we did the good parent thing and put her in her PJs for the ride home. Well shortly after changing her she got sick, not once but twice. Oh and I won the mother of the day award too. Let's just say it was everywhere....I mean everywhere. Oh and have I mentioned I have the best husband and sister in law? Robert gave me the shirt of his back his because mine was horrible and Jennifer helped me change Lilly back into her play clothes for the ride home. I guess I would have been mother of the month if I brought another PJ outfit. No such luck. It was a pretty bad night but baby girl is better today and sleeping as I type. Just another day in the life of a toddler. :)
